Virgin America ordered 40 aircraft of the A320 family

As part of the international aerospace show Farnborough airline Virgin America and Airbus signed a memorandum of understanding to buy 40 aircraft family A320.

“The acquisition of aircraft A320 is consistent with our development strategy. The operation of these aircraft will allow us to reduce operating costs, and offer passengers a high level of comfort on board” – said David Kash (David Cush), President of the airline Virgin America.

“We are pleased to get a repeat order from a fast growing airline, which is also known for the high level of service offered on board. This order once again demonstrates the many benefits of A320 aircraft. We intend to continue to strengthen our relationship in the future,” – said John Leahy (John Leahy), executive managing director Airbus.

Currently, the airline Virgin America operates 28 aircraft Airbus (10 A319 and 18 A320). Until the end of 2012 Virgin America will launch the commercial operation of 22 other airliner Airbus.

In total, Airbus has sold more than 6,500 A320 aircraft and delivered some 4,300 aircraft 310 customers and operators around the world.
